Adesh Vora: The Pharmacist Who Built a National Specialty Healthcare Network
When Canada's pharmacy industry looks for leaders who have reshaped how patients get complex care, the name Adesh Vora comes up often. He is a pharmacist by training and an entrepreneur by instinct. Over the past decade he has helped move specialty pharmacy from the back of the drugstore into the centre of patient care.
A Seat at the Industry's Table
In March 2024, the Neighbourhood Pharmacy Association of Canada announced its newly elected Board of Directors under a refreshed governance model. The board included Adesh Vora, representing SRx Health Solutions, alongside leaders from organizations such as Rexall, Sobeys, METRO and McKesson Canada. The association described the board as bringing together expertise in operations, innovation, technology, insurance, supply chain and government relations. His seat reflects how much weight his company carries in the sector.
From One Pharmacy to a National Network
Vora's career is largely the story of SRx Health. He founded the company in 2013 and has brought more than 24 years of pharmacy and healthcare experience to it, growing it from a single specialty pharmacy into a national healthcare service provider.
The model he built goes well beyond dispensing medication. He took on services that physicians once offered directly, delivering clinical care through the retail pharmacy setting. He also built in reimbursement support to help patients secure authorizations, insurance coverage and financial assistance. He has acknowledged that this once looked like stepping out of his lane. That approach has since become a template for the industry.
Scale and Growth
At the time of the Better Choice Company acquisition announcement, SRx operated 35 specialty pharmacy locations, 40 specialty health and infusion clinics, 4 clinical trial sites and 2 wholesale distribution facilities. The network extends across all ten Canadian provinces. The company has also added a nursing division and a clinical trials arm, making it a more comprehensive healthcare services business.
Leadership Through Change
Vora's roles have shifted as the company evolved. The all-stock deal with Better Choice, valued at about $125M, set him to lead the combined company as CEO. In June 2025, SRx announced a leadership reshuffle in which Vora, then Executive Chairman, was appointed CEO while remaining on the board. In July 2025, the company announced Kent Cunningham as CEO and Vora as Vice Chairman. Founders often move between operating and strategic roles as a company matures, and his path fits that pattern.
Giving Back
Outside the boardroom, Vora is known for his philanthropy. His charitable foundation, Seva International, focuses on healthcare initiatives including children's and veterinary needs, equipment donations to hospitals and community health centres, educational scholarships and global refugee relief.
Why His Story Matters
Adesh Vora's career shows how a pharmacist can reshape a sector by treating the pharmacy as a full care destination rather than a place to pick up prescriptions. For patients managing complex conditions, that means more accessible care. For the industry, it means a new standard of integration between pharmacy, clinical services and patient support.
